Yeah this complete combo should be a DIY kit so this will be my 1st build. Kinda excited.

The processor should come with a stock fan with the thermal paste on it already so I shouldn’t need to put more, well I hope not.

I just need to make a decision should I buy it now or wait for a better sale in October -December.

Man that guy is in all of the NEWEGG videos.

I totally forgot about the Anti-Static Wrist Strap thanks Sin!

One thing I just noticed:
It doesn't come with an Operating system pre-installed! That's another $80+. Deal for Win7 here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL072811&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL072811-_-EMC-072811-Index-_-OperatingSystems-_-32116986-L0D
Promo code to get it for $80: EMCKCHB36

I'd e-mail them and ask if it has thermal paste, or thermal tape. If it's thermal tape, you want to get thermal paste. Thermal tape = total garbage. It's usually 50% to 75% as thermally efficient as thermal paste, which can be bad for the CPU.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL072811&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL072811-_-EMC-072811-Index-_-DesktopMemory-_-20231311-L0A
is some decent RAM that's compatible.

If you want, I can see what I can concoct for you through Newegg. I just got an email with some deals.

All the deals are also leaving out a network card, so that can add another $10-$30.

Thanks Sin I'm gonna try and deal with this card issue 1st then recollect my self and by a new comp.

Hey guys,
I have been having issues with my new game card. It just doesn’t want to work.
I put the card in and I have downloaded all the drivers and still don’t work.
The computer is soo slow with the card in. when I try to pull up the nvidia program it says “Initiate hardware failed! Please confirm Nvidia driver has been installed correctly!”
On boot up it recognizes the card it shows the specs for a split moment NVIDIA GeForce GT50 VGA BIOS TA3602 version and copy right##”S. this is telling me that the card is readable.

My specs are
HP AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz
3.00 GB RAM
32 bit Operating system
VISTA

Graphics card is this
System Requirements:
PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0 compliant motherboard with single-width X16 graphics slot
Minimum of 300 Watt or greater system power supply (with minimum 12V current rating of 18A)
Club 3D recommends CSP-S400 400 Watt Switching Power Supply
Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon XP class processor or higher
200MB of available hard disk space
1GB system memory (2GB recommended)
Installation software requires CD-ROM drive, a keyboard, a mouse and a display
DVD playback requires DVD drive and DVD Blu-ray playback requires Blu-ray drive and Blu-ray disc
Operating system support:
Microsoft® Windows® XP 32/64-Bit*
Microsoft® Windows® Vista 32/64-Bit

Im i doing something wrong on the CPU here? scratch scratch scratch

Can you take multiple pics of the video card for me? The video card might need external power (in forms of a 6-pin plug)

http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/730/sapphire_radeon4850_power.jpg The socket on the right side is what you're looking for. If it has that, that could be a cause for the weirdness.

Also, did you try installing the drivers before putting the video card in? If so, have you tried it the other way? (Insert video card, start comp, install drivers).

If you have a decent camera, take pics of all the video card slots, so I can see if the motherboard can even handle the video card. If the motherboard isn't PCI-E 2.0x16 capable, you won't get full performance from the card.

I got the lower grade one that doesn't have the socket.
Galaxy GeForce GT 520 1 GB DDR3 Video Card 52GGS4HX2HXZ

From Amazon

installed card, turned on, then went to NVIDIA.com to download drivers

Will take some pics tonight (it's gonna take awhile).
I have the PCI-E only not (2.0) but specs say its reversable.

Hey guys I fingered it out. After messing around in the bios settings a few times and going in and out of the device manager and blowing out the PCIE port with my own stink breath. Then I looked at it more closely and it was covered in dust from the previous card. ”Thank you SIN for telling me to take pictures of it this might have been the culprit installing and uninstalling the drivers, disabling/enabling the displays. Shut down restart multiple times.

After many hours if losing sleep it now works. One thing about this card that I don’t like is it doesn’t have any nvidia settings like my Geforce 8600 had to change the display settings. To add to this my windows index went from 2.6 with no card to 4.1 card installed. CPU is now holding me back.
Hope to play this weekend cause I have the meanest withdrawals!

Once again thank you Sin for your advice would have never figured it out. Will need to post those pics when I figure how to do it again.

Now onto looking at new stuffs! bounce bounce

Good to hear, repo!!

Dust is bad for electrical contacts, as you just found out!

If you have an air compressor, and an attachment to let you blow air, take your computer out to it, and blow it out. You'd be amazed at how much dust builds up inside a computer.

If you don't have one, then grab a canister of Dust-Off, or any kind of duster canister, and blow out your computer (do this outside, of course!)

Any PCI-E 2.0 cards are reverse compatible, but you don't get the full power they can give you, so don't expect the performance it's rated at. You will still probably get a boost over your previous card, though.

I would still save up for a new computer in the future, though, so you can be a drunken beast!

actually my wife said she spilled water on it and tried to dry it out by turning upside down! Sometimes I think she does this on purpose. Went to Radio shack(yeah yeah) and picked up a new keyboard and mouse combo and boy was that a bad idea.
Hey
It worked but the mouse had lagg and the keyboard was hard to use I just don't have no luck with these things. Now imstuck with the OE mouse that has about 100K miles on it. Imma check out good ol Best Buy. Can't spend too much $ because I just picked me a new ASUS TF101 Transformer tablet that im typing on now.Work has ben crazy these past weeks it's hard to long onto the {SA} server just to have fun and when I do my slow computer can't connect 'takes at leasta half anhour after boot up then 4 more tries to get into the server.

Well anyways I hope this tablet can handle some forum surfing.

Hope to get some head shots soon!

Thanks fellas

Yeah my mouse was the wireless kind and it may have lagged because

1.of my slow computer
2.interference from other electrical items in my house.
3.it is too high tech LOL

I have withdrawals from not playing!

I have the Logitech M315 mouse, which isn't too bad for $15. I can't play COD4 with it, though, because oddly, it always goes up and left any time I move the mouse left in game. Out of game, it's perfectly fine. Its sensitivity is way too high for me to play games, too. You twitch the mouse, and you've moved like 60 degree's that direction. (it's only like 1,000DPI) Sad

Response time is great, though. Faster than my Logitech 220.
