PostSubject: The Future of Gaming {SA} Snipers Academy   Fri 27 Nov 2009 - 1:12

Everything that will be said here is all personal opinion, but I feel that I should communicate it to everyone else. Communication strengthens relationships no matter the tone or type. Arguments sometimes even better relationships in an instant more than a lifetime of learning a person. It is in times of stress we learn best.

I say all this so that you will not take personally any of what I am going to ask you all. Instead I would like you to help me understand or resolve. If I am wrong about something then please correct me, if not then help me resolve it.

I know I have not been here long, but please at least read.

1. It is my understanding that most of this clan is inactive. Is there a way to get a message out to those people and give them some time to respond and if not then remove them, or even put them on a wait list of members that if eventually return they have to report in and talk to someone about it. I am aware of the Roll Call, but think further action is required.

2. When someone wants to learn more about {SA} what do they do? They go on the website. This website is the first thing they see and it should leave a lasting impression, be easy to navigate, be organized and tidy, should be updated on a regular basis. What I'm trying to say if not already understood is that someone needs to close topics and or delete them when needed, delete spam, delete malicious messages, and keep organization. My next problem is the music player. It is annoying and more so unneeded. Instead of that video and the music player, there should be a brief history and/or a description of the clan along with a list of servers so that people don't have to go looking for it. We don't have to be all professional or anything, but some organization would be nice and profession would be perfection.

3. I see that the most active parts of the forum today are the bans ( typical due to hackers and arrogant people ), promotions, applications, and mostly off topic. Yes everyone is welcome to post in all these sections, but most of the people posting are members that never play, low rank members, or non-members. For one most of the people I see posting in promotions don't even play on the servers often, or not at all. Why do you want to be a higher rank when you wont even be on use the authority? You need to show a form of leadership before you actually take on a new role. As for applications there aren't very many, but it still happens. I will address applications in my next point. What my point is for this is that administration is not doing its job. Organization cannot be done without authority. Although I for one am a person who think everyone should have an equal say, some form of authority prevents chaos.

4. Applications are very important to a clan. It shows we are still here, we do care, and that we want to always be moving forward and have some form of development. Last Saturday was ( excuse the language because I tried very hard to not swear in this ) BULLSHIT. I'm sorry, but that needs to change now. Tryouts should be a time for the most organized activities to take place. Tryouts should not be just people whose applications are awaiting tryouts, but a time for us to be able to collectively watch the people who are awaiting tryouts AND scout for new people. When people have not applied and show up, tell them how to apply. Be their guide and help them out a little. Tell them to take screenshots and add them to their application. This will reduce the amount of incorrect applications and increase applicants. So for one; tryouts should be to collectively ( as a clan ) watch players and discuss them together. And two; scout for new players, help show them how to apply and get them to take screenshots so they can add them to their applications.

This is just a start. I thought I would make apparent, if not already, some issues ( if they actually are ). I do not wish for anything. All I ask for is your opinion on these matters and if I can help in any way.

Okay my thoughts on why we need a higher ranking officer;

First let’s define a Military ranking system:

Military rank is a system of hierarchical relationships in armed forces or civil institutions organized along military lines. Usually, uniforms denote the bearer's rank by particular insignia affixed to the uniforms. Ranking systems have been known for most of military history to be advantageous for military operations, in particular with regards to logistics, command, and coordination; as time continued and military operations became larger and more complex, military ranks increased and ranking systems themselves became more complex. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Now I can rant on more about what each and every rank means but I would fall asleep before all of you do..LOL What a Face

My point is that there needs to be a ranking system plus a show of respect to the higher members since we do not know what their path had been and how they got to where they are now. pirat

When in war, you have all the lower ranking officers bleeding on the field and not the higher ranking officers since they have payed their dues. Of course there is a higher ranking officer watching over all and checks in when necessary plus reports to his or hers superior officer.

Without ranks what do you have but Anarchy and everyone thinking that they are better then the next person? No No

So my belief is that yes one SHOULD HAVE TO JOIN first to pay their own dues and show the needed respect to the other {SA} members who by all rights will be judging their behaviors and their actions. Then they can tryout and now be judged on how well they use their weapons which does not mean that even if they are the best sniper ever that they will get in. It just means that they are a good sniper..... LMAO

I have played on the server for about 2-3 months before I had decided to join the {SA} server and have been playing ever since. The reason for this was that I had been judging the Server members ranking officers and how they handle themselves before I would place an application... “Sounds crazy but it is true” Cool

I myself like rules and regulations because it shows that if you cannot handle something and want to break the rules then you have to move on. Which is what the {SA} and higher ranking members have shown me by banning the fools and helping the ones that deserve to be here.

So to all the Higher ranking officers I applaud you and really don’t need you to babysit me while I kick some sniping azzz. But if I call on you then at that point I EXPECT you to help a lower ranking member or myself in any way that you can!!!!!

In closing; to all that join or apply you can always contact a higher ranking officer by using the PM option and if you do not receive a reply then I would suggest trying his or her superior officer. One way or another you will always be able to get a hold of someone to help you out all you need to do is take the initiative and ask. Razz

Thank you so much for your replies, and thank you Ghost.

You have explained the importance of ranks and why we have them. They are foundations for a greater, organized way and a more successful way of doing things.

I know not everybody has time to always be on, but this can be resolved by having more people with higher ranks.

PostSubject: Re: The Future of Gaming {SA} Snipers Academy   Sun 29 Nov 2009 - 16:46

Alright I'm half asleep but here's my input.

1. Most people that are inactive we have already had communication with. Or at least half. Most of them are having real life situations. I do understand half of them are just here then randomly gone without warning. That's what I've been talking to sinful about and trying to fix. I established roll call just a few weeks ago to keep check of who is active or not. (You need to post in it ASAP): http://snipersacademy.lforum.biz/roster-member-roll-call-f12/monthly-rollcall-november-open-t863.htm

2. I agree about the website stuff. However things like the video's and music players aren't that important, I really don't think kids nowadays care about long paragraphs of text. Perhaps I could remove the video player and keep the music or move something to the bottom of the screen like the music player. They were put in there to keep boredom out. If there is a major problem with this tell me...

3. I agree, most people need to step up and show they deserve to be promoted. How they act and play is where they will stay rank-wise.

4. Don't take the time to blame {SA} for the tryouts. It was my fault for not knowing that tryouts were to be hosted on {SA}2. (Your server). The server name wasn't changed like originally planned. Also I notified those on the tryout date that if there was any problem to tell me on xfire. I was never told. I stayed on {SA} a lot that day. Now I think if they really wanted in and they couldn't tryout on {SA}2 that they might have gone to {SA}1... But I don't see how they knew tryouts would've been on {SA}2 if I didn't :/.. Any way, tryouts always require an application and the CROE/ROE's to over see them. To make sure you understand your position now, You are basically my assistant. Rambo still outranks you by experience, you will both agree on things before you tell me what's important. Talk to each other before you think about asking to possibly promote a member. Talk to each other before telling me someone who is skilled and may benefit the clan. You're partners now. (Like Sinful and I)

Thank you very much for your input on what needs to be fixed. So far it's just been Sinful, RoflC and I trying to start it back up from where we left off 2 months ago. Nice to see new ideas finally from someone else.

The problem with the ranking system of authority and who is in charge, is that most the people that play the game today are kids and don't understand what we want, so half the time we have to come in and take care of stupid crap. We've tried this concept before but apparently no one wants to volunteer to take charge of their lower rank, and the lower rank doesn't want to listen to the higher rank. I like the idea of a high officer... If that wasn't already in place. That would refer to our Captain rank. Real quick let me say the ranks are established in a great way. As far as who is in charge, CROE and RTFM are your highest ranks in the clan. Sinful was appointed replacement leader by B1zar. Maybe until he comes back, maybe forever. Either way Sinful has more say in anything except b1zar atm, so guys refer to him as the clan leader. As far as everything else in Elite ranks.... RTFM and CROE have nearly the same amount of power. Except CROE/ROE control who our members are. Krono I offered you a ROE spot after Sinful said he wanted to promote you because I see that you can take care of members and you are skilled so you know what to look for. CROE appoints ROE, ROE's authority lies just below RTFM. These are the Elite rankings system. For you guys, Private, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain. Captains will be your superior officer and will only report to RTFM/CROE/ROE. Anything they say WILL BE taken seriously. (This obviously is the same for Elite ranks)

Thank you so much for your replies. I do agree on point 1, and 3 however I would like to address some things or clarify.

1. As for the music player section there doesn't need to be a wall of text just something like this.

2. I was not blaming anyone for what happened at tryouts. What I am saying is that, why can't anyone come to tryouts? We do not accept anybody except ones that are awaiting application ( Just like before ) if they prove they are clan material, but let other people join in as well and play. If they are good snipers they should be able to handle themselves to anyone that joins and shows how mature they are towards newer players. Also if random people show up they can get to know the clan better by spectating administration's help. This may give us more players joining the community.

I hope this helps a bit, but if not please explain to me further in detail about some of these things. Thank you.

PostSubject: Re: The Future of Gaming {SA} Snipers Academy   Mon 30 Nov 2009 - 5:57

Okay here is a starting point, how about we first start on the member list in the server itself. I know that we now have role call which is a great idea to keep attendance current, but how about the people that we know have left the clan and have not logged on for over 4 months or more? I myself use the member log to search on members when someone does not look familiar to me also to weed out the fake members. For instance there are 4 members {SA} Kevin, goldenego, Kastro<3, and Lil-str3ss that have never logged on. I say that we work backwards from the oldest to the newest and remove any member that has not logged on for over 4 months or more. Because truly if someone has not logged on for say 6months then do we really need someone like that representing the server.

Now I know that it takes time to do something like this, but if we were to set an exact time limit then someone other than Cain or Sin can be tasked with cleaning up that part of the server. Hence share the load and delegate the response ability’s to lower ranking members other then yourselves.

Of course there are the admin privileges that have to be considered and I am sure that Cain nor Sin will give that out to just anyone. So the task handler will have to be a higher ranking officer that can be trusted and or change the password once the task has been confirmed to be completed to the specifications given out by the superior officers.
I bring up the member list first because this has already bit me in the azz so to speak, where I have welcomed a member that had confirmed to no longer be with the {SA} team for whatever reason. I had told the member that there name still shows and they had laughed and stated that the list has not been updated in a long time. The member was totally cool about why I had been asking since he was aware of the {SA} rules and respected me for it.

So that could be the starting point which would help everyone especially when trying to up hold the SA rules by making sure we do not have any fakes in the Server. Now these are just my random thoughts that I think would help in making things run a bit smoother for everyone.
If you need a volunteer then give me a shout out and I can help, of course I am not a member as of yet and do not have the right to do or say so.. But Soon Very Soon…..LOL

Keep your mind focused and sharp for this could be your last breath,

Would you like ANY, former {SA}CROE help? I am NOT working atm, and not a very large fan of the new MW2 (Fail). I am willing to come on, as a Gaurd/Guide for the {SA} clan. As Cain and Sinful both know of who I am and what I do (lol, since I gave both of them their memberships and tags for {SA}!XD!!). I have been speaking to B1zar lately and he and I seem to share no "harsh" feelings towards our history (BTW, DON'T ASK ABOUT IT, ITS OVER, ITS DONE, AND ITS FUTILE!). The next time he is on I'll ask him officially about this. But as for now, I have the time, and passion to help. Weather it be helping admin servers, or helping directing new recruits, or even acting as an assistant ROE, and reading and replying to applications and telling the ROE's some info on the Applicants to give to the CROE.

I second that ghost. Except maybe take a larger portion such as members that are MIA as of 2-3 months ago and make an MIA list so that if they do show up they have to report in. Then if they are on the MIA list for a month boot em.

Love u too Major. Nice to see u on the site again. lol. Krono I like the idea, but information that's like that needs to be on the portal. Like server information/IP and crap (also I think we should post server rules on the portal) Great ideas though. We'll see about putting something on the portal.

Sinful and I already arranged all of the member inactivity, lmao. We have a active list and an inactive list. Members on the inactive list for a certain amount of time will be removed from the roster and will have to re-apply to gain a spot back, with reason that they were in-active. There are some exceptions like Infidel who are actually yin the army and may not be able to play at times. Wink

I concur on posting the rules I think that if shows that this server means business. I also think that posting the ranks would be cool because it just gives people something to shoot for and shows that there a levels within the server and privileges that can be reached...

Thank you for clarifying all of this for me. I now understand more about how the clan works "in these specific categories" and can now do better when I'm helping out. I would like to address some more things, but will do this at a later date.

ok i didnt read any of the above besides the first one that krono put up but beside the point yes we should have something like a clan meeting in one of our {SA} servers every month or so to talk about how things are going mabye a new rank and some more stuff that we can come up with to talk about in the meeting. but we can have two different meetings. one with all the elite members and one at a seperate time with all the CPTs and below that rank. i just thought this would be a good idea so we can see who really wants to be in this clan and who accually want to be involved in everything {SA} does. So does anyone else think that this a good idea or not?

That is why I created TGIS.

It makes it so that we can have fun while we talk about stuff and/or kick some ass.
